I am really pleased with my finished packaging, I think it has turned out really well. I decided to add lids to all of the box layers as it held it together a lot better and made it more exciting to open.

Making My Packaging
Making my packaging took longer than I thought as it was a lot of cutting out carefully and sticking carefully but I really enjoyed making it and putting it together.
Apple Pieces.
Inside.
Middle box all cut out.
Outside of the big box.

Prototype
I made this prototype to see if the sizes looked okay and that all the box's fitted properly. I cut the cross and folded it up keeping it attached, this made it a lot more stable.
Rectangle Box
I experimented with this rectangular box that open up fully like I wanted.
I made a slip to hold the box together.
I made the apple pieces from the net I chose and place them in the rectangles.
I made a cross to be the core of the box but it didn't stand very well so I had to add paper to support it. I need to think about how I can make it more stable.
I added a lid as well to make the box a bit more stable.
Folding
I decided to make a Origami Paper Ninja Star (Shuriken) just to practice some folding and for fun! It worked really well so I decided to make a mini one as well.
I was just folding the paper and made this interesting shape.
Pumpkin Box
My idea was to make this box and then edit the net so that the pumpkin shape was an apple. But I didn't really like the way the box folded out....
Apple Prints
I did some Apple Prints for fun and they turned out pretty good.
I scanned the prints onto my computer and edited them on Photoshop. I then added my logo on top moving it around and adjusted the colour of the apple.
I am using the image on the bottom right and plan to print it on my lid of the box.

Core
So I looked up the definition of the word core...
- Tough central part of various fruits containing seeds.
-Most important part.
So then I thought about what was important to me individually as a designer. The apple/core links into my faith as a christian with the whole tree of knowledge thing and the fruit thought to have been an apple. I love apple products so that another link. I also went to New York last year which is nicknamed the Big Apple.

David Brownings- Paper Apple
David Brownings is a Bristol-based illustrator. He has made a series of paper boxes that are shaped like everyday items. The apple box below is my fits in well with my project theme of the core of an apple. Although I would like my box to be able to fold out.
Dorito's Packaging
I found this really unusual packaging that can fold in different ways and contains Dorito's! Amazing!
Marion ABCD
One of my tutors showed me this book by Marion Bataille. It's a very clever yet playful idea!

Apple Peice
Developing an apple piece, I had to try out different shapes and different nets. I ended up making the piece more straight as straight lines were easier. I edited the nets by adding bits on and cutting bits off.
This final one is nearly there but I think there can be improvement.
